Biography

Alan Kenny is an Irish artist whose thirty-year career has involved dramatic periods of stylistic innovations and refreshing artistic breakthroughs. Initially a painter in the plein air tradition his earlier naturalistic landscapes maintained stylistic connections to conventional academic modes of expression.
It was after many years of painting in this fashion that Alan abandoned the strictures of traditional Irish Landscape painting to develop his own, international flavored dream-like vision.

Since the late 1990’s Alan’s idiosyncratic style has comprised a number of dominant signature features. The exclusion of detail in favor of simple shapes assists in the overall flattening of the composition, creating an immediate almost rhythmical appearance.

Over the years Alan has received both critical and commercial acclaim being one of Ireland’s most internationally recognized and regarded artists.
