Biography

Born in Co. Kildare in 1952 and now lives and works in Co. Kilkenny.

She paints spontaneous, spirited still life's, views of interiors, animals, portraits and domesticated landscapes. A decorative painter, her style owes a great deal to Matisse and to another decorative artist, Raoul Dufy.

She has exhibited widely, both in Ireland and abroad, and her paintings are held in a number of important public and private collections.

 

Education:

1970 National College of Art & Design, Dublin.

1972-74 Sir John Cass School of Art, Whitechapel, London.

1974-77 Chelsea School of Art, Fine Art.

1997 Six months in France.

1999 Scujourn, New York.

2000 Kinay Park Complex, Glasgow (Studio of Iain McColl).

 

Awards:

1999 Art Council Travel Award to New York.

1997-98 Trocaire Artists in Residence, Central America.

1994 Trocaire Artists in Residence, Somalia.

1994 Arts Council Travel Bursary to Somalia.

1994 Sunday Times Sponsorship to Somalia.

1994 Galtee, Mitchelstown, Cork Sponsorship to Somalia.

1992-93 Travel Award to Zurich.

1987 First Prize in "Drawing The Line" competition for South-Eastern
Region sponsored by An Board Gois and grant aided by The Arts Council.

1982 French Government Grant to France.

1974 Spanish Government Grant (from London) to Segovia and Madrid.
